Maasaw by MerryJoy 1998
MAASAW: OUT OF STARFIRE AND STONE by MerryJoy © 1998
Maasaw, powerful deity of fire and war, protector of Earth and guardian of the dead, is a majestic warrior beneath a terrifying mask of burnt flesh and shaggy robes. Born of the stars, he breaks through ancient stone images into life. Carved as relief figures, this is from a dream the artist had while camping at the Great Gallery in Horseshoe Canyon. [Sold: $1500]
